What Makes Get Fit with Nik Different?

The fitness industry has been oversaturated with various reality shows, social media post and fitness experts who make it look easy to become healthy through fad diets and exercise trends. Through observing my clients and my own personal experiences, people need more!  Get Fit with Nik takes a holistic approach to being healthy.  In focusing on overall wellness, we acknowledge the connection between being physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually fit.  It's not always about "getting my body snatched in 30 days."  We recognize that patience, encouragement, awareness, guidance and community are necessary to achieve overall wellness.

Reality Check
There is a movement happening towards a healthy lifestyle, which includes self care.  In the sentiments of Beyonce, "Girls (women) run the world!"  And sometime we run the world so much we forget to put ourselves first. With the growing number of diseases inflected deaths, it's a great time for everyone to choose fitness over fries and self care over neglect, to continue living the life we want.
Get Fit with Nik's "Wonder Women Need Love Too" series is to contribute to women putting themselves first.  Get Fit with Nik's overall goal is to support people in creating "harmony" and providing tools for us to be the healthiest and happiest versions of ourselves possible.

Here are some quick facts to provide a clearer picture in the importance of overall wellness through learning the fundamentals of fitness, loving yourself and living a healthy lifestyle:

  • Studies have shown that women who exercise regularly, eat right, get sufficient sleep and find satisfaction in their work and personal lives have less

    • Depression

    • Anxiety

    • And illnesses, such as heart disease

  • Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, killing 289,758 women in 2013—that’s about 1 in every 4 female deaths.

  • Heart disease is the leading cause of death for African American and white women in the United States.

  • Among Hispanic women, heart disease and cancer cause roughly the same number of deaths each year. For American Indian or Alaska Native and Asian or Pacific Islander women, heart disease is second only to cancer.

  • Among non-Hispanic blacks age 20 and older, 46% suffer from cardiovascular disease

  • 3.7 million (14.7%) of all African Americans aged 20 years or older have diabetes
